Glitter Germs

Material: glitter, soap, water

This activity is a safe and fun way of demonstrating how quickly germs are spread. It will serve as a visual reminder of why it is important to wash our hands regularly.

Have the child wet her hands. Next shake glitter into the palms the wet hands.

Ask the child to shake hands with people who don't have glitter on their hands. Next have her touch items around the house, such as the table or a doorknob. 

Discuss what is happening, encouraging the child to speak using open-ended questions.

Finally, wash hands using proper hand-washing technique.  Disinfect and sanitize the touched surfaces.
